About
About me
I don’t like to brag but here goes…
I’ve been writing professionally for about 40 years and I’ve even won awards(blush).
Before I became a mum, I had an editorial and design agency in London, where I used to live. I’ve moved to the sticks now, and work freelance from my house overlooking a field of horses (which is nice).
I’ve written about lots of things. In no particular order, the topics include health, medical and fitness, travel, parenting, the environment, trades, legal, food and drink, and the construction sector. I don’t feel there’s much I can’t tackle. But really technical stuff and complex financial information could give me something of a headache.
When I’m not playing around with words, I can be found redecorating my house – or my son’s house, rustling up the energy to do pilates or go running, or trying to get better at French.
Experience
Before I had my own agency, I worked for a leading company in London that produced ground-breaking publications for not-for-profits. In between times, I’ve written lots of books, mostly about knitting and sewing (very different, I know).
I grew up in a house full of books which was mostly my father’s doing. I very nearly studied English at university. But I changed my mind at the last minute and did a BA in Politics, then an MA in Anthropology. So I still did lots of writing.
